Ideal for all lovers of the iconic alpine routes, #grandtourmontblanc (self-guided tour) taking you through France, Switzerland and Italy offers cyclists the freedom to explore one of the most enchanting regions of the Alps. All of it, at your own pace. The ride combines amazing views of the rocky peaks and glaciers, alpine cultural heritage and rich gastronomy of the three countries crossed. What adds to the appeal of the cycling tour is the opportunity to extend the sense of adventure by visiting Chamonix the iconic capital of alpine sports, the gorgeous vineyards of the Martigny region (Valais) and the historic roman town of Aosta.

#grandtourmontblanc is also a unique experience for the discovery of legendary passes (Giro, Tour de France) like the Grand-Saint-Bernard, San Carlo, Cormet de Roselend, Aravis and epic Colombiere !

Day by day breakdown

Day 1 (Chamonix to Aosta : 52 miles / 84 km, 2790 m D+)

“Bienvenue à Chamonix”, the capital of alpine sports ! The ride starts with a short briefing concerning the latest news on the state of the high passes (road, snow). 3 alpine passes (cols des Montets, Forclaz and Grand-Saint-Bernard, one of the famous Swiss passes which is renown for the dogs kennel) are on the list of your 1st cycling day. We guarantee that you will enjoy breathtaking views of the prestigious peak and glacier of the Mont-Blanc massif (4807 M).

Day 2 (Aosta to Bourg-Saint-Maurice 46 miles / 75 km, 2109 m D+)

A spectacular ride point to point from Aosta (Italy) to Bourg-Saint-Maurice (France) ! After warming up riding along the valley of Aosta, you will climb 2 epic passes before enjoying a stunning descent to the Valley of Tarentaise. Expect amazing views as you reach near the top of the Petit-Saint-Bernard (the border between Italy and France).

Day 3 (Bourg-Saint-Maurice to Le Grand Bornand 56 miles / 90 km, 2830 m D+)

‘The Queen Stage’. This next ride is a real event and seems to be on the bucket list of many cyclists around the world. 5 passes to cross between the Tarentaise, Beaufortain, Arly and Borne Valleys. A great stage with challenging climbs and smooth descents. You will enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding mountains, traditional alpine villages and blue-green alpine lakes.

Day 4 (Le Grand Bornand to Chamonix 52 miles / 84 km, 1625 m D+)

The last part of this cycling ride tackles 2 legendary passes of the Tour de France, Col de la Colombière and Col de Romme. Throughout the day you will be rewarded for your efforts with an exceptional panorama of the north face of the Mont-Blanc !

This ride is available from May to mid-October, depending on weather conditions. Tour profile: Mountainous. The Start & Finish location is Chamonix at the bottom of the Mont-Blanc, Haute-Savoie, France. The cycling ride is for cyclists with a good level of fitness. E-bikes are welcome.
