The #grandtourchablais has the reputation of being a particularly demanding ‘Grand Tour’. Departing from Thonon-les-Bains, former capital of the Counts and Dukes of Savoy, this breathtaking route will take you from the quiet shores of Lake Geneva to the emblematic passes of the Northern Pre-Alps : Corbier, Joux-Verte, Joux-Plane, Ramaz, Encrenaz, Saxel, Grand Taillet… Stunning scenic views, epic mountain passes through picturesque alpine villages with their traditional wooden chalets, culinary traditions, #grandtourchablais is an amazing experience for all cyclists who love mountain cycling.

Day by Day breakdown

Day 1 (Thonon-les-Bains to Les Gets : 85 km, 2000 m D+)

The first day, an outstanding ride through the beautiful Plateau de Gavot will take you to Bernex, a very typical village in the Chablais region. You will then reach the great Col du Corbier, the Vallée d’Aulps and the alpine lake of Montriond, before climbing the long and difficult col de la Joux-Verte. It will be magical !

Day 2 (Les Gets to Thonon-les-Bains 87 km, 1600 m D+)

Get ready for several exhilarating climbs to start the day ! (Savolière, Ramaz, Jambaz, Saxel…), followed by a long loop to the shores of lake Geneva (Lac Léman). Throughout the ride you will enjoy sweeping panoramic views along the wonders of the Northern Alps !

Day 3 (Thonon-les-Bains to Morzine 76.5 km, 1900 m D+)

Today, none of the climbs will be overly long or very steep, allowing for a more relaxing day in the Chablais region ! The route is incredibly scenic and will still give you a feeling of challenge and fun at the same time with only 2 passes : Grand Taillet and Encrenaz.

Day 4 (Morzine to Thonon-les-Bains 101 km, 2400 m D+)

On the program for this final stage, the famous Col de Joux-Plane (11 km long, average 6.52%, max 11%). The famous pass has witnessed countless moments of cycling glory during the numerous Tour de France. This legendary route is every cyclist’s dream, just enjoy !

E-bikes are welcomes

The passes are generally open from mid-April to November. However, the opening and closing dates of the mountain passes may vary depending on the weather conditions at the time of travel.

We can arrange for airport transfer with our partner between Geneva airport and Thonon-les-Bains (one way and/or return). Please forward all relevant details including arrival date/time and departure date/time, number of cyclists, number of bikes for a quote.
